Exercise Prescription

A stronger, healthier you

Home Exercise Program

Starting at your initial evaluation appointment, our physical therapist will prescribe a home exercise program (HEP) for you. This consists of simple, safe exercises with minimal equipment that you can easily incorporate into your busy schedule. This program is meant to supplement exercises performed in therapy and will be progressed over the course of your plan of care to adapt with your progress.

Cardiovascular conditioning

According to the American Heart Association, consistent cardiovascular exercise can help prevent heart disease and improve quality of life. At Headstrong PT & Wellness, you’ll learn how to safely incorporate various modes of cardiovascular exercise into your life.

Strengthening

Strength training is an essential aspect of exercise prescription. Our physical therapist will utilize body weight, resistance bands, and free weights to prescribe a customized program for you. Depending on your specific impairments and goals, you may benefit from posture, core, and extremity strengthening.

Stretching

Stretching tight and overused muscles can not only promote relaxation and increased comfort, it can also improve posture and body alignment. Improved posture results in less force and strain on your muscles and joints (thank you, Physics). The ultimate outcome: improved efficiency when moving your body.

Performing exercise within your session may incorporate components of various exercise modes, such as high intensity interval training (HIIT), circuit training, yoga, and more. However, your plan of care will include the above-mentioned elements: HEP, strengthening, cardiovascular conditioning, and stretching.
